Cyanotype and Watercolor
12″ x 9″ on paper, surrounded with a white 16″ x 12″ acid-free matboard.
“Night Jasmine” is an original cyanotype with light touches of watercolor. Night jasmine is one of my favorite plants in the garden for its long, glossy leaves and sweet fragrance incredibly aromatic in the evenings.
Cyanotypes are one of photography’s oldest printing processes. The distinctive feature of its prints is its shade of cyan blue, which results from its exposure to ultraviolet light. I have used plants from my garden to block the UV-rays and create unique, botanical silhouettes. Additional chemicals, dyes, and watercolor are added to create a truly one-of-a-kind artwork.
